Byesville home to Coal Miner Memorial

A statue to honor the thousands of coal miners that lived in the vicinity of Guernsey County and across the nation can be found in Byesville, which was the coal capital of Ohio back in the early 1900s. About 150 trains would roar down their tracks each day. Cars carried coal from Marietta to Cleveland and often into Canada.
