Blanchard retires from fire department

Kevin Blanchard, assistant chief for the Cambridge Fire Department, worked his last full shift on June 11 and officially retired on June 20. Blanchard, who was hired into the department in 1989, as the first black firefighter in the City of Cambridge has served with the department for 31 years.
